Senior Professional Development

Welcome to Tamiami's Professional Develpment page. Most of the information available will be in forms of links to other websites. The most important is for the HQ page. National Headquarters has the most upto date information concerning the senior program.

Initial Phase

During this phase you will be submitting your application and finger print card to the unit along with a check for National HQ. You will also be assigned a mentor member to help guild you along the first few months of the program. Below is a the mentor form that you will be completing.

Level 1= Foundations

The Level I Foundations program is a CAP orientation program and the first of CAP's Five professional development program levels. During this training you will be exposed to the history of our organization and familiarize yourself with the general policies and procedures. To complete this level, complete the requirements (1-4) outlined below (in accordance with CAPR 50-17).

Level 2= Technical Training

Welcome to Level II ! Now that you've completed Level I, you are ready to move to Level II. To complete this level and earn the Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. Award, you will:

1. Become technician rated in a specialty track (earning the leadership ribbon) nearly limitless possibilities and opportunities. To view specialty track guides click here .
2. Complete the "CAP Officer Basic Course.
3. You will also complete the Squadron Leadership School (SLS) which provides CAP's adult members with a basic understanding of CAP operations at the squadron level and how those operations affect CAP's national missions. Additionally, members learn more about CAP customs, core values, and communications. Case studies, discussion, and group assignments are integral facets of the SLS.

2. Complete Officer Basic Course

3. Complete Squadron Leadership School

 

Level III= Management

To complete this level and earn the Grover Loening Award and the Loening ribbon, you will become senior rated in a specialty track, attend two major conferences, serve in a staff or command assignment for at least one year, and complete the Corporate Learning Course. See CAPR 50-17 for details on these requirements.

Level IV= Command and Staff

To complete this level and earn the Paul E. Garber Award and Garber ribbon, you will become master rated in a specialty track, serve as a staff member in a wing level course or conference, serve in a staff or command assignment for at least two years, among other requirements (see CAPR 50-17 for details).
